The Waving Cat Base mesh based off 3dscan using Maya Quad Draw
Hello!! I hope all is well and you have all had a good New Year!! In this video it is about an hours work condesnsed to just over 2 minutes 🙂 Before actually having scan data to work with I tried lots of different ways to get the cat to generate a 3d mesh using photogrammetry. I think I tried to get a scan to work about 5-10 different ways before but the best method in this instance was to paint the waving cat matt white as it was a very shiny before and take the photo’s on a grey but bright overcast day.
My ancient #Nikon D5200’s lense is broken so once I had it in focus I needed to make sure not to move too much to keep the cat in focus!! The mesh was finally succesful and I used #realityScan to generate the 3d mesh and point clouds.
I then used Autodesk Maya’s Quad Draw to map out the base mesh for the asset. It is going to appear a few times in #apepsdawn but the whole process I went through to get to this stage was very fulfilling as I learn’t quite a bit! Have a lovely rest of your day!!
